World championship leader Nico Rosberg has taken pole position for the Japanese F1 Grand Prix by setting the fastest time in qualifying.
The German clocked the Suzuka Circuit with a blistering time of 1 minute 30.647 seconds to take top spot on Saturday. But this time it was so close, with Rosberg edging Mercedes teammate and rival Lewis Hamilton by only 0.013 seconds.
Kimi Raikkonen locked down 3rd spot for the race in his Ferrari with teammate Sebastian Vettel back in 4th. Hamilton now trails Rosberg by 23 points with 5 rounds left after the Brit retired while leading in Malaysia.
