Second seeded Rafael Nadal loses to Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets, missing the chance to advance to the China Open semi-finals.

Dimitrov beats the Spaniard 6-2, 6-4 for the first time in the quarter-finals of the China Open in Beijing on Friday. Nadal's only two singles titles of the year were in April, and he hasn't reached a final since because of a left wrist injury, illness, and poor play.

The Spaniard had won all seven of the previous matches, but failed to hold his serve once in a remarkable first set which started with five consecutive breaks.

The Bulgarian broke Nadal again at the start of the second set and although the former world number one saved more break points in each of his next three service games, he was unable to convert two of his own. Dimitrov will face Milos Raonic in the last four.
