Statue of famous cat unveiled in Istanbul

The statue of a Turkish cat known worldwide for his relaxed pose has been unveiled in Istanbul’s Kadikoy district.

The cat that was named ‘Tombili’ first came to fame when pictures showing it sitting like a boss went viral online.

After ‘Tombili’ died in August, internet users asked Turkish authorities to make its statue in the same spot.

The petition quickly garnered 17,000 signatures. Hundreds of people come to pay their respects, leaving candles, cat food and flowers and take selfie with the statue.
