Citizens and businesses in the US city of Providence have joined hands to hold a night by night show of lights for sick children.

The ritual called 'Good Night Lights' includes a minute of blinking lights as a goodnight message to young patients at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

The display was initiated by the hospital’s cartoonist who’s been brightening up children’s days with drawing and games for 26 years now.

Steve Brosnihan was inspired by a single bike light that was used to cheer up a patient 6 years ago. Since then, he has tried to expand the project to more businesses and groups. The children on their behalf return this kind message with flashlights.
