Monflis, Giles advannce to second round of Japan Open

French pair of Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon have both progressed into the second round of the Japan Open. 

Monfils, who defeated Yuichi Sugita of Japan in straight sets at the Australian Open earlier this year, only needed 1 hour to outclass the Japanese again with a score-line of 6-3, 6-1 to move into round 2.

Monfils next faces his fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon.

That’s while Simon himself overcame Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in 3 sets after two hours of play to set up an all-French matchup in Tokyo with compatriot Monfils.

There were also wins for Nick Kyrgios, Marcos Baghdatis, Janko Tipsarevic and Jiri Vesely.
