Paris exhibition celebrates life and work of Oscar Wilde
France is finally holding the first major exhibition as a tribute to Irish writer Oscar Wilde more than a century after the literary figure’s death in Paris.
The exhibition which was long overdue has opened at the Petit Palais art museum. 200 exhibits include Wilde’s photographs, paintings and manuscripts.
Wilde left Britain for France in 1897 and died three years later in poverty in the French capital.
A great part of the exhibition is dedicated to his struggle in London and Paris and his tour of America.
The exhibition is supposed to run until mid-January.
