Atletico Madrid have posted a 1-0 victory over German giants Bayern Munich at the Vicente Calderon.
The Bavarians entered the Wednesday match, off the back of 8 wins in a row in all competitions. But, the visitors struggled to find any attacking cohesion despite enjoying the majority of possession.
Atletico got in front after 35 minutes when a poor play by Xabi Alonso saw the ball break into Yannick Carrasco's path. The Belgian international made no mistake and drilled a low finish past Neuerto make it 1-0.
And from then on Atletico's defensive master class prevented Bayern from finding the equalizer, as Diego Simeone's men took control of their Champions League Group D with the single goal victory.
This was Carlo Ancelotti first defeat with Bayern as manager.
