Disabled athletes are preparing for the world's first Cybathlon, dubbed the bionic Olympics.

Competitors from all over the world using robotic exoskeletons, electronic arms, and powered wheelchairs will take part in the world's first Cybathlon.

74 athletes from 25 countries will attend the event in Zurich in October.

The gathering will see athletes compete in six disciplines including powered leg prostheses, powered arm prostheses and functional electrical stimulation.

Organizers say one of the event’s goals is to encourage engineers to create efficient products that better suit people with disabilities.
