US has long history of creating terrorist groups: Commentator

The United States has a very long history of creating and backing terrorist groups all over the world, a commentator told Press TV.

“It is not only in the Arab world or in the Middle East. We know the history of United States backing up terrorism in Southern America and elsewhere in the world. It is not new for the behavior of United States of America,” said Redwan Rizk, a political commentator.

The commentator also noted Syria was not facing a “civil war”, adding that the United States and its allies led the war and directed all terrorist organizations into the war-torn country.

He went on to say that US army officials and advisors were “leading and controlling” most of the terrorist training camps in Turkey, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

This comes as Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani has criticized the United States for bombing a Syrian military air base in the eastern province of Dayr al-Zawr, stating that the attack provided ample proof that Washington is taking sides with the terrorist groups.

Larijani also highlighted that Iran is assisting Iraq and Syria in their fight against terrorists at the request of the governments in Baghdad and Damascus.

Commenting on Iran’s role in the fight against terrorism, the analyst stated the Islamic Republic has played “a very strong role” not only in Syria but all over the world.

Rizk further mentioned the Syrian government has been able to stand up and gain a lot of victories against the terrorist groups with the help of its allies - namely Iran.

“This explains also those who are trying to accuse Iran - coming from its enemies especially from some Arab countries, the Israelis and the Americans – [that] the Iranians really did protect the whole world when they joined the alliance of fighting the terrorist groups,” he said.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. Over the past few months, the Takfiri militants active in the Arab country have suffered major setbacks as the Syrian army has managed to liberate several areas.
