Iran national under-17 football team, more commonly known as Nojavanan, has for the first time secured a place for the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) U-17 World Cup, following an impressive win at the AFC U-16 Championship in India.

On Sunday, the Iranian outfit conquered Vietnam 5-0 in a quarter-final match staged at the multi-purpose Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, also known as Fatorda Stadium, in the southwestern Indian city of Margao.

Forward Allahyar Sayyadmanesh netted Iran’s opener in the 30th minute, before midfielder Mohammad Ghaderi doubled the Persians’ advantage early in the second half and was on target in the 47th minute.

The young Iranian footballers played with more vigor and valor, and heaped pressure on the opponents' goalpost. Alireza Asadabadi further widened Iran’s lead in the 62nd minute tacked Iran’s third goal.

Amir Khodamoradi found the back of Vietnam’s net in the 62nd minute, and Sayyadmanesh’s double seven minutes later progressed Nojavanan to the last four of the AFC U-16 Championship.

Nojavanan has been scheduled to face the winner of Monday’s quarter-final game between Oman and North Korea on September 29.

The 2016 AFC U-16 Championship started in India on September 15 and will finish on October 2.

The tournament acts as the AFC qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The top four teams of the tournament will qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup as the AFC representatives, besides India which has qualified automatically as the hosts.
