Spanish giants Barcelona have continued to put pressure on leaders Real Madrid with an emphatic 5-0 win at Sporting Gijon in La Liga.

The Catalans showed a flawless performance on Saturday despite missing their star player Lionel Messi who has been ruled out for about 4 weeks after suffering a groin strain against Atletico Madrid.

Goals by Luis Suarez and Rafinha in the first half put the visitors in a comfortable position at the El Molinon stadium. Things then got even harder for the host as they were reduced to 10 men after the break when Alberto Lora was sent off for a second booking.

Barca took advantage and added gloss to the scoresheet by netting in another 3 goals late in the match through Neymar who scored 2 and Arda Turan. With the victory, the Catalans grabbed 3 crucial points and moved to the top of the table for the time being.
