The result gives Japan a third victory in as many matches, sending the samurai to the last 8 as group B winners. They are hot favorites in the tournament scoring 21 goals and not conceding a single goal in their 3 group matches.

In the other group B match, Vietnam beat Kyrgyzstan 3-1 to advance as the runners-up with 6 pints. Vietnam will face Iran in the quarter-finals on Sunday.

In group C, South Korea were eliminated despite a 3-0 victory over Malaysia in their final group match. They finished 3rd in the group on 4 points.

The South Koreans could have qualified for the quarters, but a last minute equalizer for Oman in this dramatic match against Iraq dashed their hopes. The 1-all draw sent both Oman and Iraq to the quarters leaving South Korea out of the tournament.
