People from all walks of life are flocking to Iraq’s holy city of Najaf, to the shrine of the first Shia Imam to celebrate Eid al-Ghadir, which marks the designation of Imam Ali as the successor to Prophet Muhammad. This year, the occasion seems to be affected by the Saudi ban on thousands of Muslims from participating in the annual Hajj pilgrimage as worshipers are calling for unity and reject attempts by Riyadh to cause rifts among Muslims.
