Gabon: The Bongo dynasty remains

Gabon is a country located on the west coast of Africa. It gained it independence from France in 1960.

The country is sparsely populated: the population stands at 1.9 million, and because of this, it enjoys a per capita income four times that of most nations of sub-Saharan Africa.

Gabon recently held elections. After both candidates in the election claimed victory, deadly clashes broke out on the streets of Libreville.

The future remains murky as the incumbent president tries to diversify its economy away from oil.
