Video shows Yemeni forces capturing Saudi military camp

Yemeni media have released footage that shows a recent operation by Yemeni forces to capture a Saudi military camp in the kingdom’s southwestern province of Jizan.

The footage, aired by Yemen’s al-Masirah television on Wednesday, showed the operation of capturing Faridah camp in the district of Khube on September 11.

The Yemeni army and popular committees destroyed Saudi fortifications using artillery shells as well as light and heavy weapons.

The video also showed Saudi forces fleeing as they were carrying a number of their injured fellows.

The operation took place amid intensified Saudi flights over the area.

Yemeni forces always target the kingdom’s military positions in retaliation for Riyadh’s military aggression against Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has been incessantly pounding Yemen since March 2015, with the UN putting the toll at about 10,000. The offensive was launched to crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement and its allies and reinstate the resigned president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch Saudi ally.

The Houthis took state matters into their own hands after the resignation and escape of Hadi, which threw Yemen into a state of uncertainty and threatened a total security breakdown there.
