Brazil have begun the Futsal World Cup by defeating Ukraine 3-1 in their Group D opener.

The Brazilians took the lead through Rodrigo’s free-kick in the 7th minute. Falcao, who equaled the all-time appearance record at the Futsal World Cup, made it 2-nil less than 3 minutes later, before Ukraine struck-back through Mykola Grytsyna who volleyed home a corner to make it 2-1.

However, there was no comeback for the Ukrainians as Oleksandr Sorokin scored an own-goal, to hand the South Americans a 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, Italy staged a 2nd-half comeback to thrash Paraguay 4-2 in a Group C encounter.

The Italians fell behind after seven minutes when Juan Salas found space to fire-in a corner before Italy’s Lima drew level. Salas added a second before half-time to make it 2-1 and hand Paraguay the lead once again.

However, the Italians turned the tables in the second half. Sergio Romano struck the equalizer in the 23rd minute, before Carlos Dos Santos and Alex Merlim got on the scoresheet to seal a 4-2 win for Italy.
