American swimmer Ryan Lochte has been suspended for 10 months following false claims of being robbed at the Rio Olympics 2016.

The suspension was handed by the United States Olympic Committee and USA Swimming. It means the 32-year-old swimmer is out of next year’s world championships.

Lochte lied to the authorities that he was robbed at gunpoint at a gas station on a night during the Rio Games. The 12-time Olympic medalist has since apologized for his action.
