‘I’m allergic to Trump,’ Clinton says amid coughing fit
US Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has taken a dig at her Republican rival, Donald Trump, amid a coughing fit, saying, “Every time I think about Trump I get allergic.”
"Once I get over my allergic reaction, let me say that we're here in part because we know how important this election is to Ohio,” she said on Monday as she continued to cough at a campaign rally in Cleveland, Ohio.
“It's not just as Tim said that Ohio is one of those battleground states you hear about every four years, it's that Ohio represents everything that's great about America and all of the challenges and opportunities that we face,” she said, referring to Tim Kaine, Clinton’s running mate.
Clinton’s several minutes long coughing fit re-ignited rumors on social media that the Democratic nominee is indeed in poor health.
Recently, a series of unsubstantiated reports have questioned Clinton’s well-being, claiming that she never fully recovered from a blood clot that she suffered in her brain in late 2012.
The rumors gained more momentum after Republican nominee Donald Trump questioned the former First Lady’s well-being.
Clinton, 68, addressed the issue during an appearance on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel” last week, saying the allegations were part of a “wacky strategy” by the GOP to gain more votes.
Trump had called on Clinton to release "detailed medical records,” adding he would have "no problem" issuing his own medical report.
Clinton told the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) she couldn't recall every briefing on preserving records from the time when she suffered a concussion.
She told the FBI she "could not recall any briefing or training by State related to the retention of federal records or handling classified information," according to the bureau's notes of their July interview with Clinton, released on Friday.
“Clinton said she received no instructions or direction regarding the preservation or production of records from State during the transition out of her role as secretary of state in 2013,” read the FBI’s notes.
