Over to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Europe ,where Croatia have been held to a 1-all draw by Turkey in their Group I opener at Stadion Maksimir in Zagreb.

Croatia were hosting Turkey in an empty venue, due to a 2-match stadium ban by FIFA, for crowd disturbances at Euro 2016. The hosts had to wait until late in the first half to make a breakthrough when they were awarded a penalty for a foul on Luka Modric. It was Ivan Rakitic who took the spot kick and made no mistake to hand his side the lead.

However, Croatia’s advantage was short-lived and Turkey restored parity before the break, thanks to Hakan Chalhanoglu’s deflected free kick from 25 meters. No more goals followed as the teams shared the spoils in Zagreb.
