Trump vows to overturn free trade agrrements with other nations
US Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has once again vowed to overturn US free trade agreements with other nations which he blames for the loss of American jobs.
Speaking during a campaign rally in Everett, Washington, on Tuesday, Trump also repeated his recent arguments that his Democrat presidential rival Hillary Clinton has harmed African Americans and Hispanics while taking their votes for granted.
The celebrity businessman said Clinton’s proposed policies will lead to more illegal immigration and take away jobs from African-American and Hispanic citizens.
Trump promised he would win Washington state, even though the state tends to support Democrats.
A recent poll showed Clinton with a double-digit lead over Trump in Washington. The state hasn’t voted for a Republican presidential candidate since 1984.
Protesters and supporters clashed outside as Trump spoke inside the Xfinity Arena. Some protesters were ejected during the rally and two outside were arrested.
Several prominent Washington state Republicans did not attend Trump’s rally, having previously said they wouldn’t support their party’s nominee because of his controversial statements.
On Tuesday, Trump announced he will meet the Mexican president hours before his highly anticipated speech on immigration in the state of Arizona. Last Friday, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto invited both Trump and Clinton to visit Mexico.
Trump, who has taken a hardline stance on immigration, is scheduled to deliver the speech Wednesday night in Phoenix, in which he will clarify his position on the issue.
Trump has called Mexican illegal immigrants rapists and criminals and vowed to deport some 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the shadows in the United States.
He has also threatened to undo the North American Free Trade Agreement, a deal signed by the US, Canada and Mexico to create a trilateral trade bloc in North America.
In addition, Trump has pledged to build a wall along the southern border to prevent more Mexicans from entering the US illegally and has repeatedly promised to force Mexico to cover the cost of the construction of his proposed wall.
