Terrorist mortar, rocket attacks kill 2, injure 19 in Syria
Terrorist mortar and rocket attacks targeting residential areas in Syria’s eastern and southwestern regions have claimed the lives of two people and left 19 others injured.
Syria’s SANA news agency reported that two people were killed in a rocket attack launched by Takfiri Daesh terrorists on al-Joura and al-Qusour neighborhoods in the eastern city of Dayr al-Zawr on Wednesday.
The report further noted that 17 other Syrians sustained injuries in the Daesh assault.
Elsewhere in the southwestern province of Quneitra, two more Syrians were wounded after terrorists from Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, al-Qaeda’s Syrian branch formerly known as al-Nusra Front, fired five mortar shells on the residential districts of Madinat al-Baath.
A woman and a child were among the wounded in the Quneitra incident, which also caused material damage to private and public properties, the source added.
An unnamed source at the Quneitra Police Command told SANA that the militants behind the attack were positioned in the town of Hamidiyah.
Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. Over the past few months, the Takfiri militants active in the Arab country have suffered major setbacks as the Syrian army has managed to liberate several areas.
