Russia banned from the 2018 Winter Paralympics

Already suspended from Rio Paralympics, Russia's Paralympic team have also been banned for the winter edition in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 2018 because of a state-sponsored sports doping program.

Russia has been banned from the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea because of a state-sponsored doping program.

The Russian Paralympic Committee, RPC, announced the latest ban on Monday. Russian paralympians had already been ruled out of next month's Paralympic Games in Rio by the International Paralympic Committee.

Last week sport’s highest tribunal, the CAS, rejected an RPC appeal against the Rio ban. The country is now waiting for the result of an appeal against the CAS ruling to the Swiss Federal Court.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called the Paralympic ban "cynical and immoral."
