Russia's self-driving electric shuttle minibus unveiled at Moscow

Driverless electric minibus designed by Russian engineers has been unveiled at the Moscow International Automobile Salon.

Russia has unveiled a driverless electric minibus at the Moscow International Automobile Salon.

The 'Shuttle' bus is designed to replace existing public transportation in the near future. It is not simply a minibus for 12 passengers, but an autonomous electric vehicle which doesn’t follow a predetermined route.

Engineers say the minibus is designed to adapt to passengers' needs, which they can specify through a mobile application.

When the customer makes known their location and destination point, the vehicle arrives to pick them up and collect other people who follow a similar route.

Russia says it will deploy the shuttle buses in exhibition centers, museums and airports by 2018.
