Clinton branded ‘insider threat’ in US Army slides: Report

Screen grab from a US Army slide that branded US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton as an insider threat.

US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has been mentioned as an “insider threat” in a US Army training presentation, according to a report.

In the PowerPoint presentation, which has been making the rounds over the past few days, there is a slide titled “Who is the threat? Insiders” which features photos of Clinton, former NSA contractor and famous whistleblower Edward Snowden, Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis and Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan.

Retired General David Petraeus, who faced severe backlash for sharing classified information with his biographer and mistress, is also pictured next to the former secretary of state.

The slide also presents a partial definition of insider threats, describing them as “careless or disgruntled employees.”

US Army Training and Doctrine Command spokesman Major Thomas Campbell confirmed that the slide was used 18 months ago by a local unit to teach the proper handling of classified information.

"As is common with Army training requirements, the local unit was given latitude to develop their own training products to accomplish the overall training objective. This particular presentation had not been reviewed or approved by the unit's leadership, and does not reflect the position of the Army," he said.

Clinton has come under fire for using a private email server at her home in New York State to exchange thousands of work-related emails, many of which were classified, during her tenure as secretary of state between 2009 and 2013.

The FBI launched an investigation into the case and decided that although what Clinton did was "extremely careless," she should not face any criminal charges.

The ruling outraged many of Clinton’s critics, including her Republican rival Donald Trump who insisted that the emails endangered government secrets.

“The system is rigged. General Petraeus got in trouble for far less. Very very unfair! As usual, bad judgment,” Trump added.

The celebrity businessman also reacted to the Army slide, posting a link to the original report on his Twitter on Friday.
