A late goal by Toni Kroos ensured Real Madrid beat Celta de Vigo 2-1 in their first home game in the Spanish league.

Playing without the injured Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, Real Madrid needed an hour to make the breakthrough when Alvaro Morata scored a rebound from a save by goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez.

Celta Vigo responded with an equalizer some 7 minutes later through Chilean Fabian Orellana.

9 minutes from time Kroos sealed a 2-1 win for Real Madrid as he side-footed a long-range effort in off the post. Madrid have now won their first 2 matches of La Liga while Celta have lost both.
