Belgium's Van Genechten wins Vuelta stage 7
Belgium’s Jonas Van Genechten has won stage 7 of the Tour of Spain while Darwin Atapuma of Colombia maintained the overall lead.
The Belgian finished the 158.5km route in a time of 3 hours 55 minutes 44 seconds to claim his first win at the Spanish Vuelta on Friday.
Daniele Bennati of Italy finished second with Spanish Alejandro Valverde back in 3rd. At the end of stage 7, Atapuma remained in the overall lead with Valverde of Movistar and Tour de France winner Chris Froome of Sky remaining 2nd and 3rd overall, 24 seconds and 32 seconds further back respectively.
