New Spanish national football team head coach Julen Lopetegui has left out goalkeeper Iker Casillas from his squad, ahead of the World Cup qualifier matches.

The 35 year old goalie, who has 167 appearances for his country, was replaced by David de Gea at Euro 2016.

Lopetegui, who has succeeded Vicente del Bosque, also left Cesc Fabregas, Pedro Rodriguez, and Juanfran ahead of matches against Belgium and Liechtenstein. The coach has instead, recalled Chelsea's Diego Costa and Man United's Juan Mata.
