Recently leaked files have exposed the role of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in securing one of the most controversial arms deals in the UK history. The notorious al-Yamamah deal with Saudi Arabia was worth £42bn and saw Britain push through the contract to sell fighter jets to Riyadh. The revelation comes amid growing criticism of London's military and political support for the monarchy.
