Robbie Keane retires from international duty

Republic of Ireland’s captain Robbie Keane has announced his retirement from international duty.

The 36-year-old, who has scored 67 goals in 145 appearances over an 18-year international career, will retire after a friendly match with Oman on the 5th of September in Dublin.

He currently holds the record of top scorer in European Championship qualifying history with 23 goal, while Portuguese ace Cristiano Ronaldo has 20.

The former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool forward will continue his club football career with MLS side LA Galaxy.
