Giant electronic hive depicts secretive life of bees

The Hive is a unique structure, inspired by scientific research into the health of bees.

Have you ever wondered about the hidden life of a bee inside a hive? Well, in London you can get the chance to experience the life of these flying insects without having to worry about their stings.

Life of bees can be experienced in Royal Botanic Gardens in London, where a giant simulated beehive buzzes visitors to step inside.

The structure which is designed by artist Wolfgang Buttress was first set up to conduct research into the health and wellbeing of bees.

The main purpose of the study is to see whether bees produce antibiotic from their food.

It is connected to a real quarantined hive through WiFi. Sounds and vibrations inside of the real hive are echoed in the giant replica.

Flickering LED lights also help enhance the simulation and the understanding of how dense the hive’s population is.
