Brazil beat Italy 3-0 to win men's volleyball gold on final day

Brazil's men's national team have defeated Italy in straight sets to win their 3rd gold medal in the sport and cap their country's best Olympic performance with a total of seven gold medals in the Rio Games.

The hosts had lost to the Italians in the preliminary round, but this time they out-powered them 25-22, 28-26, 26-24 to win the gold medal.

It was Italy’s third silver medal in the sport. In the other match, the United States beat Russia 3-2 in the battle for bronze.
