Iran says Saudi Arabia is seeking to shift the blame of its wrongdoing in the region. Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi has said that the Arab kingdom is trying to justify its failures in Syria and Yemen. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly accused Iran of interfering in the affairs of the Middle Eastern countries.
Yemen’s former president Ali Abdullah Saleh dismisses claims about Iran’s presence in the Arab country. Talking to a TV channel, Saleh, however, said Yemen welcomes any possible alliance with Iran against the Saudi aggression. Over 9,600 Yemenis have been killed in the Saudi war since March 2015.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has arrived in Cuba on the first leg of his six-nation tour of Central and South America. He’s scheduled to visit Nicaragua, Ecuador, Chile, Venezuela and Bolivia. The top diplomat’s trip is aimed at expanding economic and political ties.
Supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement have marched in New York City to condemn US police brutality against African-American citizens. They called for justice for those killed by US police. There have been many protests by pro-black activists across the nation in recent weeks.
Taliban militants have captured Khaja Ghar district of Takhar province. This is the third region in northern Afghanistan captured by the militants over the past couple of weeks. The Afghan forces have already retaken Khanabad district of Kunduz province.
India’s paramilitary troops kill another pro-independence activist in Indian-controlled Kashmir. The man died after being hit by a tear gas canister during clashes with the Indian force. Dozens of people were also injured. Kashmir has been on security lockdown since the death of a prominent pro-independence leader in July.
Over 400 flights have been grounded and trains delayed as typhoon Mindulle hits Japan. Airlines across the country canceled 387 flights due to heavy rains and strong winds. The Meteorological Agency issued heavy rain, flood and storm warnings across large areas of Japan's eastern coast.
The world’s longest and highest glass bridge has opened in China’s central Hunan province. The structure is 430 meters long and 300 meters high. It connects the valley between two mountain cliffs at Zhangjiajie Mountains.
