Iran’s national volleyball team have suffered a straight sets defeat at the hands of Italy in the quarterfinals of the Rio games.
Both teams started the match quite strong on Wednesday and got to a point where they were leveled at 28-all in the opening set. But, it was the Italians who made better use of their chances and won the set 31-29.
Italy then had an easier task in the second set due to Iran’s below-par performance and took the set with a comfortable 6 point advantage at 25-19.
The Italians kept their strong pace in the third and outscored the Asian powerhouse 25-17 to take the victory and book their spot in the last 4 of the competitions.
