Saudi to continue Yemen war with US support: Activist

Press TV has conducted an interview with Tighe Barry, an activist with CODEPINK, to discuss Saudi Arabia’s ongoing military aggression against Yemen.

Here is a rough transcription of the interview:

Press TV: With a total disregard for civilian targets, Riyadh continues to kill children in Yemen, your thoughts.  

Barry: Well once again we see Saudi Arabia with the help of the United States in logistics, military sales and support in every way with Hillary Clinton, our new proposed commander in chief who accepted 28 million dollars from the Saudi government for her campaign, we see that Saudi Arabia has no intentions of ever stopping their human rights violations, their mass murder of women and children in one of the poorest nations in the world, their neighbor, the only democracy on the Arabian Peninsula, Yemen.   

Press TV: The UN blacklisted Riyadh back in early June for causing 60 percent of child deaths and injuries in Yemen last year, and then it had to remove the Saudis from that list after Riyadh threatened to withhold humanitarian aid to the UN through blackmail, now how appalled should that leave people?

Barry: Well once again, unfortunately I am going to have to use Donald Trump as an example. The UN is a joke. The UN has no power. The UN is taking United States’ side on this. They are not pushing Riyadh to end its endless bombing from the air, 30,000 feet on innocent Yemeni civilians. It is time for the UN to go in there, put Blue Helmets into Yemen, stop the bombing once and for all, support Yemen in its desire to become a democratic nation as it once was going to be.

Press TV: And so why haven't the so-called champions of human rights in the West spoken up after that Saudi move with the UN and they continue to arm this regime with impunity? Now just to put into figures 60 percent of child deaths and injuries last year in Yemen equaled 510 children killed and 667 wounded, that is not a small number, that should have gotten the West attention.

Barry: Well we see the Nobel Prize winning president from the United States who has sold unlimited 60 billion dollars worth of weapons to Saudi Arabia and he has the intentions to send more weapons, it seems to have been decided it is going to hold back for the time being, but we know the facts on the ground are that this government in United States supports the endless bombing of innocent, of Muslim children, women, elders in Yemen and around the world. It is time to end this.

Barack Obama calls for end of Islamophobia while he is the king of Islamophobia because he is bombing women and children in the poorest nation in the world once again.
