Moradi wins second gold medal for Iran at Rio 2016

Iran have grabbed their second gold medal at the Olympics as Iranian weightlifter Sohrab Moradi lifted a total of 403 kilograms to win the men’s 94-kilogram event in Rio.

The 27-year-old Iranian raised 182 kilograms above his head in the snatch on Saturday. He then lifted 221 kilograms in the clean and jerk to top the podium with a combined total of 403 kilograms.

Vadzim Straltsou of Belarus took silver with 395 kilograms ahead of Lithuania’s Aurimas Didzbalis with a total of 392 kilograms.

Kianoush Rostami had already given Iran their first gold medal after he broke his own world record to win the men’s 85-kilograms weight class on Friday.
