Rafael Nadal has managed to win gold in the Olympic men's doubles alongside his good friend Marc Lopez.

They defeated Romania's duo of Florin Merja and Horia Tecau with a score line of 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 in an exhausting final that lasted close to 2.5 hours. This was the Spaniard’s second triumph at the Olympics, having also won gold in the singles at the 2008 Beijing Games. Nadal has also progressed in the last 4 of the men's singles at the Rio games after beating Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil in three sets. That’s while, the Bronze medal of the men's doubles went to Americans Steve Johnson and Jack Sock, who overcame Canada's Daniel Nestor and Vasek Pospisil in straight sets.
