Just two days after the beginning of the Olympic Games in Rio, Russia has been hit by another shock as their entire team has been banned from competing in next month’s Paralympics following the country's doping scandal.

The decision was announced by the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) President Sir. Philip Craven at a press conference in Rio following the McLaren report which was released at the end of July.

He said the anti-doping system in Russia is broken, corrupted and completely compromised.

Unlike the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which allowed the individual sports federations to decide on the athletes, the IPC announced that it has unanimously decided to suspend the Russian Paralympics Committee. They believe that Russians have failed to fulfill their IPC membership responsibilities and obligations.

This means that the entire team has been expelled from participating in the upcoming games which are set to begin on the 8th of September in Brazil.
