Three endangered baby sea turtles that were found along the North Carolina coast have been moved to an aquarium to receive rehabilitative care.

According to experts, the turtles are expected to stay in the aquarium for several weeks before being sent back into the ocean.

These are the most common sea turtles in southeastern United States. The turtles can live as long as 40 years.

They on average weigh up to 113 kilograms, and were first listed as endangered species in 1978.

The US has designated eleven-hundred kilometers of beach from Mississippi to North Carolina and 777 thousand square kilometers of ocean off the Gulf of Mexico as habitats for the endangered sea turtles.
