Norway to build world's first underwater tunnel

Cars and pedestrians would be able to cross the underwater tunnel.

Would you dare to drive through an underwater tunnel? Well, in an ambitious project, engineers in Norway are planning to build the world’s first submerged super highway.

The structure will consist of two curved tubes hanging 30-meters below the surface. These tubes will be held in place using a floats system on the water.

Once completed, the tunnel will run from Kristiansand in the south to Trondheim in the north. It will reduce the trip from 21 hours to just 10 hours.

Building the bridge is going to cost a whopping 25 billion dollars and it is expected to be ready for use by 2035.
