Israeli military forces have arrested at least 27 Palestinians during overnight raids on a number of houses across the occupied West Bank.

Local sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Israeli forces stormed the town of Dura, located 11 kilometers southwest of al-Khali (Hebron), early on Monday and detained nearly 20 people, Safa news agency reported.

Israeli forces also arrested a 25-year-old Palestinian in the village of al-Kum, located 13 kilometers west of al-Khalil, after raiding several houses.

In the town of Surif, located 25 kilometers northwest of al-Khalil, Israeli soldiers detained Mohammad Ibrahim Abdulhadi al-Hour, after they broke into his house.

Local residents said Israeli troopers took the young Palestinian man away to an unknown location.

The other Palestinians were arrested in the city of Yatta, the town of Tuqu’ as well as in the Dheisheh refugee camp.

The occupied territories have witnessed a fresh bout of tensions ever since Israeli forces introduced restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem al-Quds in August 2015.

Palestinians say Tel Aviv seeks to change the status quo of the site, which is Islam’s third holiest site after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina in Saudi Arabia.

More than 220 Palestinians have lost their lives at the hands of Israeli forces in the tensions since the beginning of last October.
