The golden Lion Tamarin is considered as an endangered species that thrive only in Brazilian forests. For the past three decades, conservationists have been working hard to save these little monkeys from extinction. And their efforts have been paid off.

Back in the 1990s, there were roughly 150 of these small remarkable monkeys living in the wild. That’s due to habitat loss and poaching.

So, a biological reserve was set up in the state of Rio de Janeiro to preserve their habitat. And it seems, the Tamarin numbers are growing.

Today, there are over 3,000 of them living in the forest. And tourists are impressed by their beauty.
