Spain’s Feliciano Lopez has won his first clay court singles title by defeating Dutchman Robin Haase in straight sets in the final of the Swiss Open.
The Spaniard started the match quite well on Sunday as he got the first break of the match in the 5th game to lead 3-2 and then went on to win the set 6-4.
Haase, however, began the second set in a different style and managed to take a 3-love lead. But the Dutchman couldn’t hold on to his advantage and eventually lost the set 7-5 to his Spanish rival.
With the huge triumph, Lopez will now move up from his current world ranking of 21 after securing his first singles success on clay and his first title since winning on grass at Eastbourne back in 2014.
