Russian adventurer, Fedor Konyukhov has set a new world record for flying nonstop around the world on-board a hot air balloon.

The balloonist started from Western Australia on July 12th. The journey took 11 days to complete.

He covered some 34-thousand kilometers at altitudes of up to 10,000 meters.

During the journey, Konyukhov dealt with extreme temperatures as low as minus 56 degrees Celsius, that caused his oxygen masks and drinking water to freeze.

He also had to handle the failure of his heating system and severe electrical storms.

The traveler was apparently able to sleep from 30 minutes to a total of 4 hours a day.
