China unveils world's largest amphibious aircraft

China's large amphibious aircraft AG600 has completed assembly and is ready to deliver.

For nearly seven years, Chinese engineers have been working hard to create the world's largest aircraft that can take off from both land and water. Now, the latest invention has made its official debut at a facility in Guangdong Province.

The 'AG600' plane has been designed to perform multiple operations including controlling forest fire and marine rescue missions among others.

In the case of a forest fire, the aircraft can pick up 12 tons of water from a nearby lake or sea within 20 seconds. The plane can also rescue up to 50 people from water in a single trip. Its maiden flight is expected at the end of this year.
