Team Sky Rider Chris Froome has virtually secured his 3rd Tour de France title, by holding-on to his overall lead in a rain-soaked penultimate stage, which was won by Yon Iza-geere of Spain.

The Spaniard reached a top speed of 80 kilometers an hour, to ride clear of fellow breakaway riders Jarlinson Pantano and Vincenzo Nibali to win stage 20, in a time of 4 hours, 6 minutes and 45 seconds, and become the 1st Spaniard to win a stage in this year’s tour.

Meanwhile, Froome was never threatened on the rainy day in the Alps and maintained the yellow jersey. He now leads France’s Romain Bardet by 4 minutes and 5 seconds, while Nairo Quintana of Colombia is 3rd overall.

Sunday’s closing stage is a mainly processional ride to the Champs Elysees in Paris, and Froome is highly expected to become the 1st Brit to secure his 3rd Tour de France title.
