2 powerful explosions target Afghan protesters in Kabul

Here is a round-up of global news developments:

  • Two Powerful explosions have ripped through crowds of Afghan protesters in the capital Kabul killing nearly 30 people and injuring some 160. The attack happened when thousands gathered to protest over a multimillion dollar power line. Daesh terrorists have claimed responsibility.
  • German police have ruled out any links between the Friday shooting in Munich and the ISIL terrorist group. They say the attacker was a deranged person suffering from bouts of depression. A police spokesperson has linked the attacker to Norwegian far-right mass murderer.
  • Turkey has arrested 283 members of the presidential guard after last week's failed coup attempt. The detainees are members of the Special Forces regiment stationed at the presidential palace in Ankara. Tens of thousands of people, including senior officials in the army, have been sacked or arrested since then.
  • Hundreds of people have taken to the streets of Paris to protest the death of a young man in police custody. The demonstrators, for the fourth consecutive day, have demanded justice for 24-year-old Adama Traore who died in the town of Beaumont-sur-Oise on Tuesday.
  • Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarf is critical of Western governments for turning a blind eye to the recent beheading of a 12-year-old boy by terrorists in Syria. In his latest tweet, Zarif said the brutal murder seems to have become QUOTE "the new normal", calling the West’s silence deafening.
  • The Yemeni army, backed by Popular Committees loyal to the Ansarullah movement, has targeted a Saudi airbase in the Kingdom’s southern city of Najran. The attack has been carried out using a ballistic missile. No report of possible casualties. Earlier, Saudi jets bombed Yemen's provinces of Hajjah and Ta'izz.
  • A retired Saudi general has met with Israeli officials allegedly to encourage dialogue on the Arab Peace Initiative. Anwar Eshki has held talks with Israel’s Foreign Ministry Director-General Dore Gold and Coordinator of Government Activities in the Occupied Territories Yoav Mordechai. Eshki has also met with a group of Knesset members.
  • US Republican presidential Candidate Donald Trump's campaign alleges that Democratic rival Hillary Clinton has picked a corrupt official for vice president. The campaign has nicknamed Virginia Senator Tim Kaine “Corrupt Kaine” citing a report that he accepted 160 thousand dollars in gifts from 2001 to 2009 when he was Virginia’s governor.
