A peace activist says the Republican nominee for the US presidential election in 2016, Donald Trump, is promoting fear and fascism.

David Swanson co-founder of the website After Downing Street (now War Is A Crime .org) told Press TV debate program on Friday that, Donald Trump, the US Republican nominee for the 2016 presidential election resembles founder of Italian Fascism Benito Mussolini in claiming that he is the only one who can save the United States and its citizens,

The activist said Trump vowed to fight problems like illegal immigrants, criminals and terrorists as well as to expand military might of the US, adding “He (Trump) is going to launch war after war just like Hillary Clinton,” Democratic candidate of the US presidential election.

He said, the Republican presidential nominee is distorting the facts of Iraq war by saying that his Democratic rival was responsible for war in the Arab country, while George W. Bush, former US president, and Dick Cheney, former vice president, launched the conflict.

The New York business mogul has made controversial speeches during his campaign for nomination of the Republican Party. Trump called for banning Muslims and Mexicans from entering the United States and described Mexican migrants as criminal and rapist. He also used his Twitter account to insult parts of American society like women.

Swanson further slammed Trump for his eagerness to blame China and other parties for internal problems in the United States, saying that such an approach is “very dangerous.”

Also in the debate, a former US army psychological warfare officer Scott Bennett told Press TV said, “Donald Trump is going to be a much more moderate president, Hillary Clinton will carry us to endless wars and bloodshed,” adding, “President Trump would be much more amenable to talking about the truth.”

Scott Bennett noted, “He will look to Iran and Russia to work together to solve the ISIS (Daesh) problem, he will not seek to remove [Syrian President Bashar] Assad, he will not seek to allow these refugees that have been displaced to continue to infiltrate Europe.”
