The Czech Republic has hosted the 7th Rubik's Cube European Championship. The event has attracted over 500 participants.

Germany's Phillip Weyer has won the competition with an average time of 7.88 seconds. Australian world champion, Feliks Zemdegs, was the fastest at the Prague event with an average 7.07 seconds. But the title had to go to the best-placed European contender.

The race has 18 categories, including solving the cube blindfolded or only using the feet. Organizers say over 400 million Rubik's cubes have so far been sold worldwide.

The speed-cubers must remember the positions of 30 cubes and assemble them correctly. The champion is awarded a cash prize of 1000 euros.
