NASA releases images of moon crossing earth

This image shows the far side of the moon, illuminated by the sun, as it crosses between the DSCOVR spacecraft's Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera (EPIC) camera and telescope, and the Earth - one million miles away.

US Space agency NASA has released images of the moon crossing the face of the Earth for the second time this year.

Images are captured by the space agency's EPIC camera aboard the Deep Space Climate Observatory satellite. They were taken between July 4th and 5th, as the moon moved between the satellite and the earth on the planet's bright side.

NASA says the new images show the moon moving over the Indian and Pacific oceans. The North Pole is at the top of the images. The previous time the EPIC caught a similar event was July 15th, last year.
