Moscow cautiously optimistic about rapprochement with Turkey

Relations between Russia and Turkey have improved after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan formally apologized to Moscow over downing of a Russian warplane in the Syrian airspace last year. Analysts now believe the Kremlin needs to be cautious about its relations with Ankara, arguing Erdogan’s apology has been prompted not by remorsefulness but the economic losses his country has suffered due to Russian sanctions.
